Tips for searching with Google
- Google is great for searching but, by its very nature, throws up advertising and irritating link farm lists
rather than genuine results. So, to avoid this, prefix your search with 'Wiki: '. That way you should get
something meaningful near the top.
-
Use a minus sign '-' to exclude items. e.g. 'flintstone -fred' will keep Fred out of your results.
-
Use an asterisk '*' as a wildcard to mean anything, as in 'flintstone *'.
-
Surround your phrase in quotes if you only want results where the words are together, e.g. "Fred Flinstone"
-
If you've forgotten a website's address, search for 'inurl:flinstone" to find all websites which include Flinstone in their address.
