- Antivirus: AVG from free.grisoft.com
- Antispy: Microsoft Windows Defender for XP. It's already built in to Vista.
- Office: Open Office is excellent. Just Google for it.
- Graphics: Gimp is at http://www.gimp.org/downloads/
- Photos: Picassa is at http://picasa.google.com/download/
- FTP: Blazeftp from http://www.flashpeak.com/blazeftp/
- Database: MySQL is superb.
